South Fields Reach 2
Utah County · Utah · 2022
As part of the Bureau of Reclamation CUPCA project to bring water from the Strawberry Reservoir to Southern Utah County, VanCon installed 12,706 feet of 60-inch welded steel culinary pipe and 13,690 feet of 54 to 42-inch HDPE irrigation pipe in Utah County between 8800 South Powerhouse Road to Woodland Hills Drive and the Salem Canal Road intersection. Trenching was up to 20 feet deep. The pipe crossed multiple landowners' property resulting in extensive communication, work swapping, and negotiations to gain access to farmland around planting and harvest seasons. The project was completed in high groundwater with multiple dewatering pumps running throughout excavation.

Sedimentation Basin Improvements
Bluffdale · Salt Lake County · 2023
VanCon remodeled existing structures to increase the capacity and prolong the life of the Bluffdale water treatment sedimentation basins. VanCon removed deteriorated chain and flight and poured seismic reinforcing concrete walls inside two basins and two buttresses outside the basins. VanCon infilled around the troughs through the effluent wall of four basins. VanCon repaired clarifiers for basins 1 and 2. VanCon installed new chain and flight and replaced pumps for six basins. The work took place through an unexpectedly extra snowy winter, requiring ice chipping and snow removal almost daily.

Central Pipeline
Salt Lake County · Salt Lake · 2015
VanCon installed 31,600 linear feet of 48-inch welded steel culinary pipeline requiring 130,000 cubic yards of excavation and pipeline embankment. The project included several large vaults and many small vaults, a fluoride building, multiple valves, 600 linear feet of 36-inch thermoplastic (HDPE) and 900 linear feet of 6-inch HDPE. Five canals crossings were constructed; two at Utah Salt Lake, one each at South Jordan, Jacob Welby and Utah Lake Distributing, and a sixth crossing at the Jordan River. The canal was lined with 200 linear feet of concrete lining. VanCon also added 11,000 linear feet of Jordan River Parkway Trail, an equestrian trail, a pedestrian bridge over Utah and Salt Lake Canals, and pipeline connections. Road reconstruction of 200,000 square feet was completed on Jordan Narrows Road. The project was completed in public rights-of-way with flyers distributed to the public and traffic plans coordinated with two cities and the county.

Salem WRF
Salem · Utah County · 2022
VanCon built a new wastewater reclamation facility with an operations building, a maintenance building, an electrical building, an influent pump station with mechanical and bypass bar racks, a headworks building with washer/compactor, grit classifier, and grit chambers, an anaerobic pre-selector with RAS pumps, a three-ring Orbal ditch, clarifiers, a process building with UV open channel disinfection, screw press, and alum feed systems, WAS pumps, a solids storage tank, odor control, and combustible gas monitoring. The water table onsite was 3 feet deep — vaults 15 to 20 feet deep required continual dewatering throughout the project.

Syracuse Secondary Reservoir Phase II
Syracuse · Davis County · 2024
VanCon excavated and poured a 37-AC-FT reservoir with underdrain to collect groundwater. VanCon installed 4,100 feet of wrapped and perforated 6-inch and 220 feet of 12-inch HDPE piping to collect pond water and groundwater and built a pump station with four 200 HP pumps to move the two water sources into the irrigation system. VanCon also installed 113,000 feet of 18-inch storm drain ADS, 1,700 feet of 24-inch ductile iron, 1,700 feet of 36-inch RCP, and 1,700 feet of 36-inch HDPE storm drainpipe into the road with a bore leading to the road tie-in. The project had extensive groundwater and dewatering was intensive throughout the excavation.
