Vineyard RDA Lift Station 2

Project Overview

This lift station, awarded to VanCon by the City of Vineyard, received awards from both APWA and ACI. The station required construction of a reinforced, cast-in-place 1,239 square-foot concrete sewer lift station 32-feet deep with a CMU building. The project included liquid-applied membrane, equipment installation, 1,100 linear feet of 36-inch piping, electrical work, pumps, a 275kW Generac 600A ATS generator, a mixer, and grating with a large staircase. The VanCon team completed the project despite high ground water requiring engineered dewatering operations and trench stabilization.

Project Highlights

  • 32-feet deep with CMU building
  • 1,100 feet of 36-inch piping installed
  • 275kW Generac 600A ATS generator

CUWCD Spanish Fork Provo Reservoir Canal Pipeline — Orem Reach 1B

Orem · Utah County · 2016

The goal of the Orem Reach 1B project was to connect a water pipeline from the Strawberry Reservoir to a concrete structure at the mouth of Provo Canyon where the Owner can choose to discharge water into the Provo River or send water via the Provo River Aqueduct to various water agencies in Utah and Salt Lake Counties. Built on solid bedrock, the concrete hydraulic structure has many large pipe penetrations and angles that made concrete construction challenging. The project included 30 to 60-inch welded steel pipe and a traffic bridge over the Provo River with a 60-inch culvert. The project was completed 30 days early.

Alpine Watershed Protection Project

Alpine Watershed Protection Project

Alpine · Utah County · 2014

Originally this project consisted of installing emergency watershed protection (EWP) measures including enlarging an irrigation pond, excavating and re-grading drainage channels, installing a box culvert, rip rap, and drainage piping, constructing a concrete flood wall, and installing a permanent silt fence. After a 100-year storm caused additional erosion, VanCon secured additional NRCS funding and installed a drainage levee with rip rap. When a 150-year storm wiped out most EWP measures, VanCon crews worked through the night clearing drainage channels and digging emergency detention ponds. VanCon ultimately installed 1,850 feet of 36-inch RCP, 865 feet of 48-inch RCP, 500 feet of 60-inch RCP, and 141 feet of 84-inch RCP, with large inlet/outlet structures, catch basins, a channelizing levee with riprap, seeding, and surface restoration.
