Project Overview

VanCon built a new groundwater treatment facility to filter arsenic, manganese, and iron from drinking water. The project included a treatment building with a chlorine gas feed system and ferric chloride dosing, and two parallel horizontal 4-cell pressure vessels with anthracite filter material with 6 MGD capacity. The project also included two backwash clarifiers, a pump station, a decant pump station, four 40-foot by 201-foot drying beds, 1,496 feet of 24-inch, 4,763 feet of 20-inch and 400-feet of 10 to 16-inch concrete lined ductile iron pipe.

CUWCD Ashley Valley WTP Chain & Flight Replacement

Ashley Valley · Uintah County · 2018

VanCon demolished the deteriorated chain & flight mechanisms in both the North and South Basins and installed new devices which included shafts, chains & flights, motors & drives, return rails, installation and start-up of electrical and instrumentation. Existing handrails were modified and permanent ladders were added. Instrumentation, controls and weather shields were installed. CM/GC additions included an extra stainless-steel platform with a retractable ladder to improve basin access, and a baffle to protect the polymer sludge rakes from being destroyed by influent water.

Sedimentation Basin Improvements

Bluffdale · Salt Lake County · 2023

VanCon remodeled existing structures to increase the capacity and prolong the life of the Bluffdale water treatment sedimentation basins. VanCon removed deteriorated chain and flight and poured seismic reinforcing concrete walls inside two basins and two buttresses outside the basins. VanCon infilled around the troughs through the effluent wall of four basins. VanCon repaired clarifiers for basins 1 and 2. VanCon installed new chain and flight and replaced pumps for six basins. The work took place through an unexpectedly extra snowy winter, requiring ice chipping and snow removal almost daily.
